Akira
The first painting from the Akira cycle – Red Akira – was created back in 2019 and was strongly inspired by the legendary 1988 animated film Akira, especially its glowing cyber-city lights and post-apocalyptic atmosphere.
A year later, I painted White Akira on wooden boards and in a significantly larger format. Two years after that, during my internship at the Malby 3 studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno, the painting Zenith was created. Zenith is a small exception in my practice – it is painted on canvas and, unusually for me, with a brush instead of spatulas.
The series is rooted in cyberpunk imagery and in Japanese, American, and German influences. It is no coincidence that the largest work is titled White Akira, echoing the iconic 1988 film. The atmosphere of the original Blade Runner is equally important here – foggy night streets, neon reflections, and the glow of towering futuristic buildings.
