Prague Chamber Soloists – Bach

Designing visuals for a concert by the Prague Chamber Soloists sounded like a pretty straightforward job at first.

It became a little more interesting once I realised that the main poster also had to work hand in hand with individual musician profiles for social media. So I built the whole visual system from just three simple ingredients:

1) Strong typography
2) A blue and light-beige colour palette
3) Custom way of masking the photographs, inspired by the soft geometry of Baroque frames (simplified, of course).

The result is a small, unified visual identity based on a slightly modified Gauranga typeface by OoM Type, combined with a custom script font for the name of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Through typography, I tried to subtly echo the spirit of the Baroque era and translate a bit of musical atmosphere into the visual language itself.
