Slivovice 130

Third place achieved!

The task was to design a commemorative label for the well known Czech distillery Rudolf Jelínek.

I decided to take an optimistic route and illustrated a branch with three plums. Why three? Because the label celebrates 130 years since the company was founded. Fitting all 130 plums on one label felt a little unrealistic and the number 13 is not exactly famous for good luck either, so this was my small and friendly compromise. I also added a short line to the illustration: We have been growing and maturing since 1894.

The competition had two rounds and started with around seventy participants, so it was definitely not an easy ride. Some very well known names took part as well, including the illustrator duo Tomski & Polanski.

In the second round, I presented two different label versions and eventually finished in third place, which I happily take.
