11th PageFive

PageFive’s 11th birthday

When I started designing the visuals for PageFive’s 11th birthday, I set myself one very clear goal. Make them bold, colourful and properly juicy, but still built on a real idea, not on random effects.

Because the celebration also marked the opening of a new space next to the original PageFive, I used the floor plan of the newly connected building as the main graphic structure. On top of it, I created a custom and wild PageFive typography and added a delicate line explosion for a bit of controlled chaos. Draw took a long time! The explosion was drawn by hand with a micro pen, then scanned and vectorised.

The final layer consists of eleven green crosses, symbolising the anniversary year and referencing video-game “healing” icons, where more crosses mean more health. Here, the extra health stands for growth and a small upgrade into a new space.

The graphics were printed as a four colour poster and flyer.
