By teaching others, I educate myself!
When I started preparing a lecture on type-design and typography for architecture university students (FA VUT), I had no idea how much the process would help me as well. It turns out that explaining things to others is a great way to realise how much you still learn, even when you think you already know the topic pretty well.
The lecture was attended by around 100 people. I will admit that at that moment I was so nervous I might have been seeing double, but thankfully the audience stayed wonderfully single.
The entire visual identity of the presentation, including the promotional posters, was built around a strong blue and white colour scheme, using a very distinctive RGB blue. The choice was intentional, as blue light is known to support focus and mental activity more than colours such as green or red. So yes, it was design, but also a little bit of science.
I still use these materials today when teaching typography to my younger high school students, which proves that this lecture keeps teaching me too.
