Concrete Spaceship

Photo publication from the abandoned Buzludzha Monument a spectacular piece of socialist brutalism built on a steel structure and wrapped in concrete. The building stands on Mount Buzludzha in Bulgaria (1,441 m above sea level), a place of strong historical importance for the country.

Part spaceship, part political monument, it remains one of the most striking and unusual architectural structures to come out of the socialist era in Europe.

The publication is designed in a newspaper format and folds into four parts (full format B2). It is printed in monochrome, using photographs taken on both digital and analog SLR cameras.
